Cancer Diagnosis Update on Richard Jr.

I want to apologize again for the inconvenience it caused when we were forced to cancel the Police Instructor 201 workshop at the IACTP Conference. My son, Richard Jr., was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma pelvic cancer on September 27th. It is a rare form of bone cancer, especially in adults. It will required chemotherapy and radiation therapy over the next year, and the possibility of surgery. Richard will be hospitalized for 5-7 days during each of the aggressive treatments.

Richard was injured during his annual Army National Guard training. He was given an MRI to see if he had herniated a disc in his back and that is when the tumor was inadvertently found. He is also a student at Ohio State so his world has been turned upside down, but he is a strong 20 year old. He finished the 5 mile run with a herniated disc and cancer in his hip, so we are confident he will beat this assault on his body by cancer.
